Offering For Anxious album – Diggs Duke

After years of putting out a steady stream of first-class neo soul on his lonesome, Washington-based multi-instrumentalist Diggs Duke releases his debut album on Brownswood Recordings

diggs_duke_offering_for_anxiousSince 2011, Diggs Duke has been creating a stir with a steady stream of EPs and singles released on his lonesome through Bandcamp and Soundcloud. Thankfully, in 2013 the Washington-based singer-songwriter signed to Brownswood Recordings, the label of UK jazz DJ Gilles Peterson.

The first fruit of this marriage is Offering For Anxious, a 10-track album reflecting a brand of soul that, at times, is reminiscent of Steely Dan or a jazzier version of Donald Fagen. Highlights include Nine Winning Wives, with its curious time signature, and the string-accentuated Is It Love featuring violinist Vaughan Octavia.
