108 Years of Herman Miller in 108 Seconds video – design

Short animation spanning 108 years of a firm that has had a hand in some of the 20th century’s most iconic furniture

US furniture firm Herman Miller commissioned Dutch animators Part of a Bigger Plan to make a short movie to mark the launch of WHY, a new digital platform “exploring the stories behind what” the company does.

The short packs 108 years of design history into just 108 seconds and reveals that during the course of its existence, the firm played a major role in some of the 20th century’s most enduring modern designs – furniture such as the Isamu Noguchi table, iconic Eames chairs and the Aeron office chair (below).
