The UK’s newly honoured Omar – Omar Lye-Foo MBE, to you – releases his first album in almost seven years
This is Omar’s first album since 2006’s Sing (If You Want It) and if you liked that recording, you’ll be swaying your derrière to this one too.
Amid his familiar brand of UK-centric neo soul is a liberal dose of dub, dance and Latin rhythms, not to mention an appearance by former Soul II Soul songstress Caron Wheeler. She duets with Omar on Treat You.
On this page is an extended sample of The Man alongside a video for the album’s title track. After consuming all that, check out This Is Something Gettin’ Heavy, a collaboration between Omar and Soul Of Earth, aka Craig Love and Jason Or. This atmospheric single is part of the Atlanta-based duo’s Electromagnetic EP.
The Man is out on July 1 on Freestyle Records, while This Is Something Gettin’ Heavy can be bought at Soul Of Earth’s Bandcamp page.
