Broadcite broken beat Carnival mix – Daz-I-Kue – free music download

Download this free Notting Hill Carnival broken beat mix, which will sound good long after the steel pans have packed up

broadcite_carnival_mixBack in the day, the only music you heard at London’s Notting Hill Carnival was calypso, soca and reggae. (Oh, and a sprinkling of rare grooves spun by DJ Norman Jay.) However, things have changed. Now, as the carnival has become more inclusive (and commercial), everything under the ‘urban’ banner is catered for. And that includes broken beats, which, to be honest, often includes rhythms similar to those found in calypso and soca.

Former Bugz In The Attic member Daz-I-Kue supplied this mix, which gave a taste of what to expect at a pre-Carnival bash organised by London’s Broadcite crew – an outfit that has, from time to time, released their own broken beat tunes.

This 50-minute session, which features numerous Daz-I-Kue remixes, shows off the producer’s talent for creating terrific head-nodding rhythms. Download it from here.
