Listen to this four-track EP featuring dance-flavoured reworkings from the likes of OL and Tommy Rawson
The enigmatic title of this EP from In-Beat-Ween Music, the label that released Lay-Far’s So Many Ways Remixed, is enigmatic for a reason. The original identity of these dance-flavoured reworkings has not been revealed; all we’re told is that they span “well-known and lesser-known songs from various music eras”. (Many anoraks will, however, swiftly pinpoint where the inspirations stem from.)
Opening track Directions by Russian producer OL (aka Oleg Buyanov) has been attracting much airplay, but equally deserving of the spotlight is Tommy Rawson’s This World. The London musician’s remix resembles a classic Jazzanova joint, which is no bad thing.
Jonny Miller and D-Malice’s Afro-house excursion and the jazzy mid-tempo grooves of Haku (aka Chris Barker) round off proceedings on an EP that’s currently available only on vinyl, but no doubt a digital download is in the works.
