In an occasional exercise that highlights the work of kindred labels and unknown acts, Jasmine De La Paz has compiled Label Love Vol 6, a 13-track compilation that will cost you absolutely nothing. That’s right, it’s free.
The US label manager of Tru Thoughts has chosen tracks from nine labels, including well-known outfits Stones Throw, Project Mooncircle, Wax Poetics and, of course, Tru Thoughts. It is indeed, in the words of the labels, “an eclectic yet unified bundle of unique sounds”.
Highlights include the mellow ‘electrofusion’ of handsome muso Lost Midas and the chiming melodies of Berlin Girls by KRTS.
