Listen to some whimsical neo-soul grooves inspired by a much-loved jazz instrumental
Wallace Gollan dropped a surprisingly whimsical track at the tail end of 2015. The New Zealand-born singer, who’s now based in Australia, asked producer Godriguez (aka Dave Rodriguez) to tinker with one of her favourite tunes Nardis by trumpet legend Miles Davis (although arranger Bill Evans is also closely associated with the song).
From Godriguez’s dabbling was delivered Negroni Eyes, a wonderful mid-tempo groove punctuated with discreet undulating strings.
