Headphone brands that provide models in different colours are not stellar in the sonic stakes. Manufacturers concerned with high fidelity don’t give a rat’s arse whether their ‘phones match your favourite colour. Hence, proper headphone firms such as AKG, Beyerdynamic, Grado and Sennheiser give you a choice of great-sounding products, so long as you choose black or maybe silver but mostly black.

That is, until now. These Sennheiser Momentum on-ear headphones come in four colours and should – like their bigger, more costly over-ear cousins – sound considerably better than their multicoloured peers. That’s because Sennheiser is a bona fide headphone manufacturer with gear strewn across the world’s pro studios.
The tone of these cans is skewed towards the bass, although overall they deliver “superb sound” according to CNET, while Pocket-lint was impressed by the ‘phones “sparkling top end”.
Well, it seems colourful style and sound can mix after all.
